Health Alliance Plan of Michigan, a nonprofit health plan company, provides managed health care insurance products and plans for individuals, families, employees, and companies. Its products include health maintenance organization (HMO), point-of-service, preferred provider organization (PPO), exclusive provider arrangement, exclusive provider option, medicare advantage plans, and high deductible HMO plans, as well as consumer directed health plans with health savings accounts, PPO plans for individuals and families, and health coverage continuation plans for autoworkers. HealthPlus of Michigan is a licensed not-for-profit Health Maintenance Organization providing health care coverage to more than 200,000 members from Oakland County north through Bay County along the I-75 corridor. CIGNA
CIGNA can trace its roots back to 1792, and the founding of the Insurance Company of North America (INA), the US's first marine insurer. Its first life insurance policy was issued two years later. In 1865, the Connecticut General Life Insurance Company (CG) was formed in Hartford, Connecticut. Nearly 120 years later, in 1982, CG and INA merged to form CIGNA.
